I grew up going to Disneyland. To me, a Disneyland trip is so comfortable, easy, and effortless. The truth is at Disneyland you can be spontaneous. You can easily decide the day before or even that morning that you want to go and still have an amazing time. That may be true some of the time at Disney World but I quickly learned from my first few visits that it’s a whole other beast. Preparation is key to a successful Disney World trip and honestly if you are spending all that money the last thing you want to do is spend the day in a hot sweaty line.
I also learned when I was doing my research for Disney World tricks and tips that the internet is a vast black hole of articles and blogs about the topic. Most say the same thing with a few new ideas sprinkled about.
If you are tackling planning your own Disney World adventure on your own then I have saved you some time by compiling all my favorite Disney World hacks and helps for you here. These tips range anywhere from saving money (huge for us!), tips for first-timers, and figuring out how to get your money’s worth out of those dang fast passbands! The Best and the Worst Times to Visit Disney World
First and foremost deciding when to visit can make or break your experience. If you happen to plan your trip on one of the dreaded red days you may find yourself surfing crowds instead of riding rides. Check out Katie’s tips on when the best times to visit Disney World really are (and not just what the crowd calendars tell you).
40 Budget Hacks That Will Save You Hundreds at Disney
If anyone knows how to save you money it’s the Krazy Coupon Lady. For real they know their stuff. Tips include gold mines such as eating sit down meals at lunch instead of dinner, purchasing Disney gift cards ahead of time, and how to save money on stroller rentals. We are definitely budget travelers as there are six of us and we travel fulltime, so saving money is a must so we can stretch our travel even further.
The Ten Best Splurges at Disney World
Ok, we talked about how to save money but what is actually worth spending a little extra on? From early morning hours to after Disney magic and what about Bibbidi Boppity Boutique (my girls would love that one). Here are some ideas to consider– most need to be booked ahead of time.
Disney World Fast Pass and Cheat Guide
Ok, the truth is Fast Passes make me want to cry and stick my head in the oven just a little bit. They are a little bit confusing and overwhelming but the truth is so completely worth it. We learned very quickly, even on a lesser-traveled day that Fast Passes make or break your visit. I love this cheat guide because it really helped us plan our day and make the most of our short amount of time.
How to Make the Most Out of Your Disney Dining Plan
I’m just going to be real with you here for a moment. We don’t do the dining plan, and we don’t stay on property. We save a ton of money and the kids are just as happy as can be (probably because they don’t know otherwise!). I’m sure someday it will happen but right now since we live and travel in our RV it just doesn’t make sense for us. Even before the RV, we would stay at a neighboring hotel that had a shuttle. That being said I know lots of people stay and eat on property and love it. There are definitely some tricks and tips to make the most of your dining credits so everyone is fed and happy and you don’t have extra left at the end.
Dollar Store Hacks for Your Disney Vacation
This is always one of my favorites. I love dollar store hacks for cruises but my budget loving heart loves to stock up on things before heading to Disney. That way kids still get surprises and can gather autographs from their favorite characters but my wallet is happy. Plus the poncho advice is MONEY. One time we were not prepared and spent $60 on ponchos in the park. We could have bought them for $6 at the dollar store if we had thought ahead.
How to Prep Your Phone for a Disney Vacation
Add this to the list of things we had no idea what we were doing. We showed up to Disney World and didn’t even have the My Disney Experience app downloaded. Avoid our mistakes because you WILL want your phone to be prepared and you will definitely want one or two back up charger blocks. Did I mention we showed up with low batteries on not one but two phones?? Major facepalm.
Along with prepping your phone for Disney World, you will want to be familiar with how to maximize the My Disney Experience app. I love this informative post about it: https://createyourownreality.co/how-to-use-the-my-disney-experience-app/
Disney World Mistakes to Avoid
And lastly how to avoid mistakes at Disney World for first-timers. Pretty sure we made most of them, so it’s worth a read. But the good news is even on the worst of days you still are at Disney World making memories with your family so that’s a huge win.
