I don’t drink, but we are fascinated with factory tours so we couldn’t miss the chance to take a free tour of the Coors Brewery during our recent trip to Denver.
The Coors Brewery is located in Golden, Colorado which is just a short 20-30 minute drive outside of Denver. Interestingly, the Coors Brewery is the largest single site brewery in the world. This means they malt their own barley, brew and package all in one place. The tour consists of seeing all the different processes and stages that beer goes through. Halfway through the tour they offer a fresh beer sample (about 2 ounces) and let you cool off in a refrigerated room (I guess it can get warm in the summer time).
The real prize however is at the end of the tour where you are given three pretty good-sized samples of any of their brands. They recommend you try something different, not just your favorite. For us non-drinkers we were allowed all the soft drinks you can handle. Which, let’s be honest, that was like heaven for us.
I did overhear that they offer a “short tour” for those who basically want to skip the tour and head straight to the sample room. I also overheard one guy say he has done the tour like ten times. Which makes sense- free beer? Why not- if I was local I’d be there too, just for the pepsi.
