It’s so nice to be able to go on vacation and be able to bring baby along. You can even bring along baby to your winter ski destinations and find solace, knowing that she is being taken good care of while you are hitting the slopes. Here is a list of ski resorts that offer daycare services (most even offered for infants!). This list will be constantly updated and added to.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort is a beautiful ski resort and conference center in Macungie, PA. The resort’s facility accepts children ages 6 months to 6 years of age.
Big Sky has a daycare that will be open Wednesday-Saturday for drop-in hourly care. (Please contact if there are other days or hours that you may need childcare) Please call 406.993-2220 or email [email protected] The friendly and caring staff welcomes your child to the Lone Peak Playhouse (LPP), right at the base of Big Sky’s slopes. Relax and enjoy the area while your child plays with other children in a safe and fun environment. This is a center that operates in conjunction with Big Sky Resort and the Snowsports School. LPP is conveniently located in the Snowcrest Lodge, across the hall from the Snowsports School.
Brian Head Resort in Southern Utah. Offers a licensed daycare for children 6 weeks to 3 years old. On-mountain, state licensed day care is offered daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for $13 per hour or $79 for the day (2 hour minimum). Please visit www.BrianHead.com for more information.
Brundage Mountain Resort in West Central Idaho has a very impressive state-certified day care center that cares for children from 6 weeks to 8 years old. A unique feature of their daycare facility is that it is a ‘drive up’ daycare. Parents can drop their children off at the front door before parking. This means they don’t have to walk the little ones across a large snowy parking lot as is the case with many ski resorts. Click here for more information.
Crystal Mountain Resort has Adventure Care available for infants up to age 6. The daycare is located in the second floor of our Mountain Adventure Zone – same building that the ski school is based near the learning area slopes. Children can stay all-day (9-4pm) for $49 (Saturday, Sunday and holidays is $59) and half-day (9am-noon or 1-4pm) for $27 (Saturday, Sunday and holidays $32). Activities are tailored to the ages of the children. With permission from the parent the childcare staff will also take them outside to play in the snow – there’s a playground area behind the Mountain Adventure Zone.
Crested Butte Mountain Resort has Camp CB Nursery- the littlest adventurers can also explore the virtues of CBMR via the resort’s Camp CB Nursery (ages 2 months to 3 years). Parents can rest assured their miniature Magellans are in expert hands, allowing them to conquer mountains and pursue their own adventures in Crested Butte. Infants (2 to 18 months) enjoy hands-on care with a two-to-one infant to attendant ratio. Toddlers (19 months to 3 years) begin to explore their world with organized activities, arts and crafts, games, snow play* (weather permitting) and quiet time. The new and improved Camp CB is located slope side, at the ski base area in the Whetstone Building. *Toddlers (under three years old) get their first experience on snow via the Camp CB Cuddly Bear introduction to skiing program, which familiarizes kids with equipment and the sensation of sliding. The Cubs program gradually introduces three-year-olds to the on-mountain experience through a “taste of skiing” program combining one-to-two hours of skiing with organized activities, games, and quiet time.
Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort offers Cub’s Den Playroom for children 6 months old and older who prefer indoor play. The Cub’s Den is open daily during the winter season. The cost is $15 per child, per hour (2 hour minimum required). Lunch is $8. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (413) 738-5500 ext 3410.
Loveland Ski Area offers a fully licensed daycare open for ages 12 months to 12 years.
Mammoth Mountain in the Eastern Sierras of California. This mountain, with one of the longest seasons and some of the best conditions in the U.S., also offers top-of-the-line child care facilities and lessons for children. Small World Child Care is a state-licensed facility offering high quality day care for children ages newborn to 8 years, centrally located by the Main Lodge. Children spend the day with qualified caregivers engaged in age appropriate indoor and outdoor play. Room environments are age specific and include playtime, arts and crafts, songs, stories, games and rest time. Lunch and snacks are provided for children 17 months and older. Child care is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during the ski season (’10/’11 season tentatively scheduled to begin November 11; last season ran from October 16-July 5), pricing per child begins at an hourly drop-in rate of $25/hour; with advance reservations the daily rate is $99 (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), or there’s a drop-in daily rate of $109. Moonlight Basin offers childcare seven days a week, for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Daily hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kids engage in games and arts.
Saddleback Maine, www.saddlebackmaine.com a ski resort in Rangeley, Maine that has daycare available for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. The facility is fully licensed and they also offer private lessons for those ready to try the slopes.
Stratton Mountain’s daycare facility is conveniently located right at the base of the mountain in their charming village. They provide childcare services for infants as young as six weeks old up to three years. Parents can opt to enroll their children in on-snow activities starting at two years old, while those four through twelve years are welcomed at the Winter Junior School.
Smugglers’ Notch Resort in northern Vermont offers daycare center Treasures. Treasures offers a slopeside location so that skiing parents can check on their kids; dedicated parking for easy drop-off and pick-up; one-way viewing mirrors in each classroom so that parents can check on their children without disturbing their play; child-sized toilets and sinks; an in-house kitchen for quick and easy preparation of meals; a private nursing room for nursing moms and babies; and radiant floor heating so that little crawlers stay warm on the floor.
